Graphic Novel Friday--Method Man's Method Man

I saw the cover of this and who the writer was and did a double take. Is this The Method Man? Yes it is. I have to say right here in the post I was so into it; I was chuckling out loud. Here is the description of the graphic novel as it reads from the back cover: “An ancient evil of unfathomable power plots the unspeakable- the destruction of the mortal realm and beyond . Man’s only hope lies in Peerless Poe, a hard-luck private eye with a taste for booze and a magnetic attraction to danger. A former member of the Clandestine Order of the Sacred Method, Poe must forge an uneasy alliance with those who exploited him against an enemy bent on global annihilation. This unholy threat wears a women’s face and wields dark energies capable of destroying normal men. But Poe hasn’t been normal in years. The Order saw to that. Poe is scarred. Poe is transformed. Poe is Method Man!”
The entire g.n. is not long. The concept is Method Man’s, the script is done by David Atchison and the illustrations by Sanford Greene. The concept is fun; the dialogue is crisp and real. The artwork fits like a glove. I really enjoy finding new avenues for any type of novel & Grand Central Publishing has definitely provided one here. I am going to see what else they have in their stable. I have to give props to Method .
His throwdown is no jive smack. At times he uses language that some may find offensive , but it seems to fit the situation and is not just put there for shock value. Besides when one is talking %$#@ like Peerless Poe does, it is in the heat of situation, got it . I am hoping that there are other offerings besides this one. The character he has created in Peerless Poe is awesome. He contains all the basic ingredients of the wise@#$ detective that has the hard veneer surface, but the soft ,do-gooder inner core .I applaud Method Man for this graphic novel. I think most people’s reaction to hearing that he has a g.n., would be huh??? The guys in our Family did.
If you have a hunger for graphic novels ,are looking for something different than the norm, and are willing not to judge a book by its cover, then give this one a go . Have some fun with it, after all isn’t that part of what the graphic novel is supposed to be? Put this bad boy in your Goodreads –to read- list and don’t forget about it. Save it for a day of whimsy near the pool or for a day at the beach.
